About EquinArt Creations

EquinArt Creations sells artist resin model horses, fine china horse models, bronze
equestrian statues, and fine art, all devoted to the beauty of the horse and our
favorite animals - horses, dogs and cats. The company was founded in 2004 by
Jeanne Rudmann Grunert, a long-time model horse collector and enthusiast. After
writing a business plan for her graduate degree in Direct and Internet Marketing at
New York University for a make-believe model horse company, Jeanne thought,
"Why not? Why couldn't I make this pretend company real?" She used the prize
money she won for the business plan as seed capital, and the rest is history.
EquinArt Creations was born.
Artist Representation - Sell Your Work Through EquinArt Creations
EquinArt Creations represents many of the model horse hobby's finest artists, as
well as fine artists from around the country. We count among our artists Candace
M. Liddy, a member of the American Academy of Equine Art, and Debby Thomas,
president of the Virginia Equine Artist Association. Our other artists include
painters, sculptors, crafters and more who love to depict the horse in all its beauty.
We welcome new artists but accept only a few artists to represent annually. Please
visit our artist information page for information on how we work with artists and how
to present your work to us.
All work must be 100% original. We prefer only art depicting horses, dogs and cats
but will consider wildlife and other animals. We are always interested in hobby
supplies for the model horse community, tack, dolls and other props for the serious
collector and artisan.
Donations
Yes, we donate gift certificates and other goodies to the model horse community.
Please contact Jeanne via email at equinartcreations@yahoo.com and send her
information on your event. We prefer to support the model horse community, model
horse organizations, and charities devoted to horses, animal care (such as
shelters), and non profits that support human-animal causes, such as Guide Dogs
for the Blind, etc.
About John and Jeanne Grunert (and the furry family members)
John and I co-own and operate EquinArt Creations. I began collecting model
horses in 1974 and was very active in the hobby community until the late 1980s
when I began riding 'real' horses. Like many other people, I packed my models
away while leasing, showing and working at horse stables took over my time. I had
the great honor of show grooming for one of Olympic rider Nona Garson's students,
and taking Western riding lessons from National Champion Appaloosa breeder
and trainer Pam Horvath.
By the late 1990s, however, I'd taken an executive position as a marketing manager
for a company in Manhattan, and I no longer had time to ride. For the next decade or
so, I worked as a marketing manager for a variety of companies in the New York
City area, completed my graduate studies, and planned my eventual move from
New York to Virginia.
In 2007, my husband and I moved from New York to Virginia. We live and work on a
17 acre timber farm at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We grow pine for the
timber market, plus organic fruit, vegetables and herbs. Our animal family currently
consists of Shadow, the German shepherd dog, Pierre (the fat gray cat) and Raz,
the orange cat we recently found in a ditch by the side of the road.
Our main business is marketing consulting and writing company called Seven
Oaks Consulting. I write books, articles and marketing copy for companies.
What about my model horse collection? I collect vintage Breyers, especially certain
molds. I just can't get enough of the FAS (who can't?), the Cantering Welsh Pony,
the Foundation Stallion, El Pastor and a few other favorite old vintage models. I
also collect Wade Northlight, Hagen Renaker, Josef and Lakeshore Collection
models. And of course, Artist Resins! I especially love minis, micro minis and
anything very tiny. I am active in TOPSA (Totally Online Photo Show Association)
and try to get out to Breyerfest and a live show or two when I can.
If you love model horses as I do, then you can't get enough of them. I invite you to
follow my Model Horse Fun blog, check out my books on model horses, and read
my articles in the Model Horse Quarterly.
Model Horse Collector Since the 1970s
As you can see from the pictures, I've always loved model horses. That's me on Christmas Day, 1975, holding my very first
Stablemates....at age 13 in the public library, where my model horses were featured in a display in the children's department....and today,
my desk, covered with models...and cats....
Age 13...look at the vintage Breyers! The blue rider is a
Marx Josie West doll. The little rearing horse is a Breyer
copy from china.
Remember when a Breyer under the tree was
the best Christmas present ever? Christmas,
circa 1970-something.
At Breyerfest 2005...a dream come true. I'd wanted to
go to Breyerfest since it first began. Now here I was, in
Artisans Hall!
My desk, today...Pierre holding down the fort.
