Meet the Artist
Patricia Nelson Graves
Sculptor of "Innocence"
"To me, art all comes down to being true to yourself.
I don't try to follow trends, and while I admire other
artists, I'm more interested in what makes their
paintings work than in emulating their style."
Patricia Nelson Graves renders her work in a
plethora of media and while commissioned work
often requires a conservative approach, her scenes
of horses and the Montana landscape are decidedly
impressionistic. Regardless, color, form and light
are important elements of her painting. Among her
awards are Best of Show at the Calgary Stampede's
Western Art Show: John B. Clymer Award at the
National Western Art Show, and many many others
throughout the United States and Canada. Her work
has been featured in Western Horseman and Equine
Images as well as regional publications such as the
Racing Journal. Her first sculpture for EquinArt
Creations Inc. - Innocence - is a portrait model of
her warmblood filly, Finale. "Fin" was born five years
ago in Ronan, Montana. To the left are photos of
Fin and Fin with her dam. Below are photographs of
custom painted EquinArt Creations Artist's Choice
versions of Innocence, hand-painted by the artist
herself.
